Bea Gormley never thought hearing aids would become a part of her everyday life. "I didn't have too high opinion of hearing aids because both of my parents had had hearing aids and they weren't that great. They didn't help very much."

Out with the old and in with the new says audiologist Nancy Duncan. She says hearing aids have come a long way. They've gone digital. One of the newest and most advanced devices on the market is the "Senso Diva". It's a hearing aid so intelligent it can be programmed to think for it's user. Nancy says, "It really makes it fine-tuneable, so the patient is getting superior hearing in most, if not all, environments." read more

Press Release - January 2004

January 2004 - Press Release

New Life's Soundsuite™ Technology Gives Patients Chance to "Test Drive" Their Hearing Aid.

(Fall River, Ma, January 1, 04) Nearly 10 percent of Americans suffer from hearing loss, which can lead to poor communication and social withdrawal. Nancy Duncan - Duncan Hearing Heath care wants to help hearing impaired patients restore their quality of life and learn to enjoy social situations again. As a member of American Hearing Aid Associates (AHAA), Duncan Hearing Healthcare is offering a new technology called Life's SoundSuite™that gives patients a chance to "test drive" a hearing aid before buying it. This technology helps patients hear better then ever with their hearing aids.

Life's Soundsuite is a state-of-the-art testing room where patients can assess their hearing instruments in a variety of natural sound environments. Once Duncan Hearing Healthcare prescribes hearing instruments, they presents patients with technology that combines video and surround sound to simulate real-life situations. By listening to sounds such as those heard in restaurants, at family gatherings, and when viewing television, patients can participate in the programming of the instruments prescribed to them to get the best sound performance possible. This not only improves the patient's haring, but minimizes the need for follow-up adjustments as well.

"I began using Life's Soundsuite in my practice because I wanted to provide my patients with the best hearing solutions possible," said Nancy Duncan. "In the past, my patients were concerned that their hearing aids would not perform in difficult situations. Now, they can live their lives with confidence, knowing their hearing instruments will work when they need them most."

AHAA represents the nation's highest quality and most accessible hearing health care network comprised of professional audiologists, hearing aid dispensers, otolaryngologists, hospitals, and universities across the country. AHAA aims to raise the quality of hearing health care throughout American by the continual evaluation and upgrading of the educational standards and technical expertise of our hearing aid associates. While the provider/patient relationship is the foundation of AHAA's integrity, it is the organization's duty to increase awareness of hearing loss throughout the country and deliver the hearing impaired person a better life as a result of improved hearing.
